The Versatile Blogger Award!

My good friend Tena, of Success Just Clicksย has awarded me The Versatile Blogger Award!Thank you so much! With this, I have to share 7 facts about me!

1. I have been to many different countries. I have visited Beijing, China; England; Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Amsterdam; Belgium; a few cities in Ireland; Canada; Mexico; Puerto Rico. I think that might be it? My parents work for an airline so we’ve been able to travel… I think everyone should go out of the country at least once… it’s a very good culture shock and allows you to appreciate everyone in the world.

2. I have always loved dogs since my first phrase was ‘Bye Bye Doggy’, but I wasn’t allowed to own a dog until I convinced my parents at 12 years old that I could take care of one. Her name was Honda, and she was an amazing dalmatian. I guess it all started with her. ๐Ÿ™‚

3. I’ve only ever had two boyfriends, and I married the second one. We’ve been dating since we were 14, and we were best friends first.

4. I have never failed a college class before.

5. I’ve always loved art but never truly exceeded at it. People who could used to make me jealous. Now I can appreciate it. ๐Ÿ™‚

6. I’ve always loved vampires, werewolves, the supernatural sort of things. That’s what I love to read!

7. When I was little I never wanted to get married or have kids, I just wanted to live in a big house with a million dogs. Now I can’t wait to have a few children running around… most likely after Zac gets back from deployment. I’m scared to have to even my time between dogs and my children, but I’m sure I can do it!

Now I have to nominate 15 blogs:

I am sure I will have lots to talk and discuss… so look forward to some posts.

This picture, with a blue background, is being made into a necklace for me I won from a rescue raffle. Once it is complete and she sends me a picture of it, I will show exactly who is making it, where you can get one, and which rescue I believed deserved my donation. They really are a wonderful group!

Dogs Shows and Splash Time!

Swimming on 6/19/11

Last week was Doc’s first official AKC conformation Show. We showed on both Saturday and Sunday and walked away with Winner’s Dog and Best of Winners both days. We received our first two points towards his championship! I was SO proud of him. Its like he knew what he had to do, puffed up and stood pretty in the ring. He did such an amazing job. I was super proud of him. Before I didn’t know if his championship would be possible considering this was my first time showing a dog in conformation ever, but now I think it might! Doc really does a good job of carrying me along. LOL!!!! I had our picture taken on Saturday, so when I receive it, I’ll have to post it up. Our breeder couldn’t make it that weekend, so we were all alone, not even a husband because of drill weekend. However, I did see a fellow agility class friend there with her labs. She had already shown in the conformation, but I did catch her final qualifying score in rally and see Beamer get his RN title! YAY for Beamer! He’s such a thick headed lab. Gorgeous!

Swimming on 6/19/11

Doc has definitely hit his teenage age, I believe. We went to a dock diving practice on Saturday in hopes to get the spots to jump off the dock. Well, they had a BLAST swimming after their toys, but no jumping off the dock. Doc is also having a problem getting in other dogs faces and then growling and trying to lunge at them. Also happens when they get in his face too. But he only does it to dogs his size or bigger. He’s an absolute angel with little dogs. I’m beginning to think he’s insecure at this point in time and really need to start working on the look at thats with him. I’ll be attending Ali Brown’s Scaredy Dog seminar in July, so I’m hoping I can get some more ideas then. I never wanted a reactive dog (who does?) It’s not something I’ve researched a lot, so I don’t have a lot of things in my tool box to work with it. It is kind of scary not having a solution… as I usually do. Play time was ended when a little scuffle broke out between the spots and two other over stimulated dogs. Nothing big, not even any scratch marks. But it is scary seeing your dogs get in their first “fight”. I should have known better and will never subject my dogs to something like that ever again. We all make mistakes I guess.

It's my toy!!!

But on a better note, we took the dogs swimming at the in laws yesterday and they had a blast. Their confidence in the water grows so much every time they swim. Now they are actively JUMPING into the water, swimming in circles, and going after toys. Doc even jumps in the water after ME… not the toys. He just loves swimming. We had a blast! I got pictures and video!

Look mom I can JUMP!

I even got a video of Doc’s flying jump. LOL He cracks me up.

I also got another video awhile back of the dogs looking at a rabbit in the back yard. Lol

This is what I live with. ๐Ÿ™‚

First Show Down!!!

This weekend was Doc’s two official first conformation shows and he rocked them! He picked up one point a day towards his championship!

Both days he went Winners Dog and Best of Winners. I am SO proud of this boy.

This wouldn’t have been possible without our wonderful breeder, Michelle, a gorgeous dog from two gorgeous parents, and positive training. With our positive training he looks at going into the ring as fun and becomes the confident, gorgeous boy I know he is. Outside of the ring he may want to go and say hi to every dog and everyone, but inside he knows its business and his tail never drops, constantly wagging. He stands perfectly for the judge to come and look at teeth and feel his conformation. I am sooo proud of where we have gotten to. I can’t wait to go to another show. I can see why this is addicting. Lol

Look at my ribbons mom!

Mail Time!

Look what came in the mail today!

I'm a STAR Puppy! -- Doc

Doc completed his AKC STAR puppy when he was younger, but I was waiting for him to get his AKC registration so it could go under his name Pokatalica’s Toujours L’Audace. Well, his medal and certificate finally came! And just in time because he starts his Canine Good Citizen class on Wednesday. So hopefully in two months he will pass his CGC test. He’s an awesome dog so I don’t think he’ll have a problem passing the test.

He looks so proud. ๐Ÿ™‚

Doc is almost finished with his Pre-Sports class. After this I have to decide where we want to go. I want to do everything with him! Which can be a bit daunting for some, but I love spending time with my pups and I love letting them do what they love. Doc seems to really enjoy agility, might actually enjoy flyball (haven’t done much of this yet but it seems promising), and seems to enjoy obedience/rally. And of course he loves looking pretty in the ring. (He really does puff up in the ring.) So I’m sure we will dabble in everything throughout his life. I just don’t know where we want to start.

Oh, and I think both the dogs might have a future in dock diving. Lol We took them swimming at Zac’s parents (which I’m so glad we live close now, we’ll be spending most of the summer there) and Delta and Doc were actually jumping into the pool THEMSELVES to fetch the frisbee. Doc isn’t a good swimmer at all yet (his butt sinks) but Delta finally learned how to swim without her life vest. YAY! She couldn’t swim at all last year, but now she’s a pro! Delta was actually the one jumping in more than Doc! I have pictures on my real camera… actually I have a lot of pictures on my camera that need uploading. I really need to jump on that. ๐Ÿ™‚

NEWS for the upcoming weeks:

This weekend is Doc’s first show.

The second weekend in July is a Delta agility trial, and also the third weekend in July.

The third weekend in July is the Ali Brown seminar. I am super excited for it!

Puppy Match 5/29

Doc Doc had his big day on Sunday. Not his official big day, but kind of like a final dress rehearsal big day! He had a puppy match and went into the ring with another pup (whom he was related to) that was 7 months old. My hopes going into this ring was just to keep Doc’s attention, have him stand reasonably still for the judge, and to not take off during his gaiting portion. He blew me away!

We were first in the ring so she told us where to stand and so I stacked Doc, with another dog behind him. It was like he didn’t even know there were other dogs in the ring with him. He stood, gave great ears, and stayed forward on his toes, staring at the bait. We did a gait around the ring, which he didn’t even look behind me (which he’s done before) when a dog was behind him. He stacked again and the judge came to examine. He gave a wiggly butt but didn’t move a leg. She checked his teeth and the rest of his body and it wasn’t until she got to his butt that he moved a front leg forward, but just an inch. I was perfectly okay with this. He gated again, staying where he should be the whole time. I gave lots of praise while we waited for the other dog to get examined and then we went around the ring again together. We ended up getting second, but that’s perfectly fine with me, I was super proud of Doc and his ‘first time in the ring’. He did fabulous. People probably thought I was nuts crooning over him so much once we stepped out of the ring, but I didn’t care, he looked awesome. ๐Ÿ˜€

Our first official show is next weekend. I’m not as nervous as I was because the ‘first time’ is done and over with and it’s a lot more exciting and fun than I thought it would be. It’s fun keeping your dogs attention on you and trying to make him look as pretty as they can be. But you come out of the ring wondering if the judge just didn’t like your dog or if it’s something you did to make them look less appealing. Lol Oh well, it doesn’t matter!

Acceptance, Moving On, and Worries.

So my interview went well, I think. She said I really sounded like I knew what I was talking about, and I felt like I rambled on. Lol! But they must have liked me because Tia e-mailed me a couple days later saying I was accepted into the Karen Pryor Academy! YAY! I am sooo excited to start this journey! I don’t start until early/mid July… but I can’t wait!!!

Delta and Doc are proud of me. ๐Ÿ™‚ I only wish it wasn't blurry. MOM Lol

The move has went well. The dogs, I think, are adjusting reasonably well. The fact that this apartment is almost identical to the old one helps. Delta was a little stressed last time we moved and really disliked the UHaul. For that reason, I really tried to keep her from seeing it the two days we had it. She saw it once getting in the car to drive to the new place. There was a little bit of stress barking going on when we first got here, but she’s calmed down considerably. I can tell because she didn’t offer herย ferocious sounding bark the last time we came home. Doc, my laid back guy, is taking everything is stride. We did have a number two accident the first night we were here (and of course our cleaning supplies was in the other apartment for cleaning! But luckily I had my spot vac and my oxyclean!) so he’s slept in the cage the past few nights. Last night was his first night out and he is back to being fine.

I'm being good under here, Mommy. Look, no begging!

I wish it wasn’t so rainy outside because I want to go exploring new places with my pups! While they get their regular exercise in the rain, I want to go have fun! Lol I will also admit this last semester I was slightly lacking on the training with the pups. So yesterday it felt GREAT to get a good training session in there. Delta and I worked on homework for our Attention at Heel class and I taught Doc how to ‘Back Up’. He really has fun with that one and occasionally will add in a nice jump hop skip backwards. Lol It’s super cute!

They are so snuggly, I love it!

We have our first vet appointment with the new vet on Thursday. I’m super excited… but besides heartworm tests, a new reason to go has come up. :-/ Delta has been licking her vulva a lot recently and I’ve noticed small dots of what I’m expecting to be urine on her bed when she goes to lay down. However, I’ve noticed no excess urination or pain when urinating. I’ve pressed on her bladder and she showed no pain. It’s weird… so I am going to bring in a urine sample, considering stones are rather common in dalmatians. I REALLY hope she doesn’t have any… it will really break my heart. I’ve tried her whole life, and will continue to try, not to let her get stones. I know sometimes there is nothing you can do, but I still feel like it will be my fault if she does have them. Here is to hoping my baby is okay. :-/ It also sucks because the accupressurist said her bladder and kidney points felt great when she had it done not too long ago… but I guess these things can pop up at any instant. Who knows, maybe it’s just a UTI or something… :-/

Delta enjoying the outside life on a nice day recently

Well, now that I’m done with school, I really hope to get some good, interesting posts in, not just talk about myself! Lol Till next time!

My pretty boy! Good news! He'll be in his first show in mid-June!
